Free Anti-virus And Spyware Software?

February 8th, 2010 admin Leave a comment Go to comments

Looking for a Virus/Spyware remover that is free, and cleans all the problems. Not one that is free to use, but it only cleans up some until you pay to upgrade to the full version.

You should get a anti virus some good free ones are, Avira, Avast! Also you should get malwarebytes anti malware and super anti spyware. They delete almost every virus or every virus on a computer. You should also scan in Safe mode. To get to safe mode press f8 when you start your computer.

I would recommend AVG Anti-Virus free edition. They also have a version that you can pay for that has additional security and real time scanning options. The company I work for uses this program on some of their machines and we never see any problems using it. All of the incoming virus/spyware infections are stopped and removed with no hassle.

Avast Anti-virus Home Edition for your free anti-virus. Yes you will need to register it but it’s all free.
Spybot Search and Destroy is amazing for spyware.
Both of those can be downloaded from download.com and were in the top pics for pcworld magazine. I’ve seen many test done with these two app’s and they definitely do better than all other freeware anti-virus’s and spyware removers that I’ve seen (even better than AVG’s free versions).

AVG is garbage, stop recommending it people, it has a low detection rate (Which means higher chances of viruses entering PC).
Download Avira, you can use it for free and upgrade anytime you want to the Premium version:http://download.cnet.com/Avira-AntiVir-P…
I do not recommend AVG, and anyone with good knowledge with AV software would know this too.

I have used Zone Alarm Firewall, I have also got superantispyware and Malwarebytes. They are all free for personal use and I have had no trouble with Viruses Trojans Hackers etc. I have just changed to Avast antivirus and all seems good so far. Zone Alarm allows a lot of personal configuration unlike the Windows Firewall. They can all be downloaded from http://www.download.com/ I also use Windows Defender from the Microsoft site. It is safe to use two anti-spy products but never use more than one A/V as it can cause conflicts. You should run A/V and anti spy weekly. Hope this helps

I’m not sure why you want a program that ‘only cleans up some’ when a free AVG will clean up everything it can.
If your computer is very bad and needs both virus and spyware cleanup then you may need to just wipe the machine clean and start again fresh anyway.

I have always used AVG Free for my own computer and anyone whoever asked me to put virus protection on theirs. Its free to download and it doesnt use up a whole lot of your system speed so you shouldnt have any extra lagging problems whilst using it. Good luck!
