No offense, but if you are running a small business, you should really consider Quickbooks or Peachtree. Both will obviously print checks for you.
Also, most check writers require you use pre-printed form checks, from someplace like Nebs, etc.
Try trolling through Microsoft Office templates. I may have seen one there.
Business Plan Pro by Palo Alto Software appears to be the best software available. Personally, I had some problems with its lack of flexibility in adjusting format of financial reports, but I had very particular and somewhat unusual needs. I believe it should work just fine for majority of projects. It serves well guiding beginners through a process of writing a biz plan. Whatever it cannot do can be supplemented by MS Office.
Debian GNU/Linux for operating system (Red Hat Enterprise Linux, if your want paid support), and TinyErp for application software.
If you do not want ERP, use PostGreSQL or MySQL.

I have Business Plan Pro 2003 and I have several business plan files.
Does anybody know why on most of my files I am able to export a Business Plan Pro file to Adobe Acrobat PDF but on others I cannot. Is their something in those files that is preventing the Business Plan Pro software from exporting the Business Plan Pro file into Adobe PDF?
If you know, please educate me on what is in those Business Plan Pro files that is preventing me from exporting to Adobe PDF.
