Debian GNU/Linux for operating system (Red Hat Enterprise Linux, if your want paid support), and TinyErp for application software.
If you do not want ERP, use PostGreSQL or MySQL.

I started using NetObjectsFusion, it’s great and you can find FREE
full versions of it on some computer magazines. However if you
want to start an on-line store, with catalogue and merchandise,
Yahoo has a great store host for only $39 per month and they take care of everything.Good Luck

I’m curious as to what the title of a small business owner would be. Particularly of a software development business. I know that for a company it would be something along the lines of director CEO but I don’t know for a small business.
Thanks

I use Quick Books to do accounting and payroll for my husband’s business. I have a friend who is starting a small business and wants my help with payroll, but wants me to use Quattro Pro. I thought that was a spreadsheet; can I do payroll on it like in Quick Books?

Hi there,
I own and operate a basic small computer repairs business.
Lately, I’ve been thinking of doing it up, which includes expanding a few more services and selling stock.
I want a software which can help me keep a track of all my stock, and work out the profit at the end of the day.
The software would be great if it has some sort of integrated calender, so that it can keep track of when my clients have booked me, how much to charge, what they ordered etc.
Can anybody point me to the right direction?
Thanks heaps!
